Giro d’Italia 2024, Jonathan Milan: “It was really chaotic, I suffered a lot. Tomorrow we have another chance”

Jonathan Milan came close to success in the third stage of the Giro d’Italia 2024. On the finish line in Fossano, the mighty sprinter of Lidl-Trek was in fact beaten only by Tim Merlier (Soudal-QuickStep), who was able to catch up with the Friulian in the last meters and put his wheel ahead of everyone. For the 23-year-old thus came the fifth consecutive second stage place in the Pink Race counting also those of the last edition, but the former Maglia Ciclamino still confirmed himself among the best sprinters in the peloton, even in a complicated finale like today’s and made even harder by the attack of Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates) and Geraint Thomas (Ineos Grenadiers).

“It was really chaotic, with this climb and also with the attack by Pogacar and Geraint,” Milan told Eurosport microphones after the finish, “I suffered a lot. An attack that messed up the plans of Milan and his teammates, “We got a little lost, but in the last 500 meters we found each other. Then I saw Trentin coming full throttle on the right, I moved to the right, tried to take the trajectory, get the speed, but Merlier sprinted better than me and I congratulate him.” However, the class of 2000 is already looking ahead: “Tomorrow we have another chance”.
