Bora-hansgrohe, Primož Roglič is healed and aiming for Tour de France: “His training is giving very good numbers”

Primož Roglič is feeling better and is working to get to his best at the Tour de France. This is according to Bora-Hansgrohe sport director Rolf Aldag interviewed by Cyclingnews at the start of the second stage of the Giro d’Italia 2024. The Slovenian climber, the defending champion of the Corsa Rosa, has recently started training again at full strength, after the very bad crash at the Tour of the Basque Country, in order to reach the main goal of his season, which is to win the yellow jersey.

“I don’t know if Primož is watching the Giro or not,” Aldag admitted shortly before the start of the Oropa stage, won by an extraordinary Tadej Pogacar, the Slovenian’s next opponent in the Grande Boucle, “But I do know that I will see him soon for another reconnaissance in the Pyrenees, and then we will go to the highlands. Then together we will go to the Tour of the Dauphiné. He will have to live with the fact that in the next two months he will have to see me more than his wife and family.”

The sport director of the German team then wanted to reassure fans and enthusiasts about Roglič’s condition and the progress of his training. “Things seem to be very positive, his workouts are giving very good numbers. For sure he lost some time [because of the crash – ed] and of course we would have liked to win the overall of the Tour of the Basque Country with him, that’s clear. But I think he is doing very well now. The results are not there yet, but we have at least Paris-Nice, which didn’t go the way we wanted, but it gave us very positive indications.”
